Because Your Medical Team Won't Be Prioritizing Your Mental Health, But I Will
You may have heard women reflecting on their birthing experiences and sharing that they weren't prepared for the mental health component of postpartum. They wish they had prepared or had some knowledge about what to really expect during this time, but they didn't know where they could receive this information. This is not the responsibility of your doctor
This is why I created this mini course and postpartum care plan. To walk you through what to expect so you don't find yourself feeling uninformed and falling into the gap in care

"1 in 5 moms will experience a perinatal mood or anxiety disorder in the postpartum period. We normalize that"

I Didn't Plan for Postpartum
Being pregnant is such a beautiful and transformative time in our lives, and we spend most of our time learning about the growing baby, tracking their growth, and preparing for their grand entrance into this world. That in and of itself can feel like a full-time job, so it doesn't surprise me that prepping our mental health is not on our list of priorities, and I am here to tell you that it should be.

I tell you this because during postpartum, I was sitting with this beautiful new baby on my chest and realized quickly that there was another side to postpartum that I wasn't prepared for, which led to:

-
Significant overwhelm
-
Inability to sleep
-
Isolating
-
Feeling resentful
-
Ashamed
-
Lacking confidence
-
Unable to make basic decisions
All of this impacted my ability to enjoy this period of time, and I often look back at pictures and can see exactly where things started to break down, and when I decided to take control.
Having A Postpartum Care Plan
Receiving proper education and creating a care plan made all the difference in my second pregnancy. Rather than doom-scrolling during those early morning feeding sessions, I was implementing my postpartum care plan and strategizing how to get a solid 6 hours of sleep. I didn't need to figure it out; I had it planned out already, and having that plan developed allowed me to:

-
Be confident in what I was doing
-
Have an informed support team
-
Manage stress better
-
Feel in control
-
Was less overwhelmed
-
Understanding my birth
-
Slept better

This allowed me to be present, express what I was feeling, knowing that I had the support in place that I needed. I still faced challenges in the postpartum period, but I had a plan to implement that allowed me to view the hard times as growth and not set backs.

Founder|CEO The Whole Mom
Hi! I'm Dr. Nicole, CEO and Founder of The Whole Mom, a perinatal mental health and wellness organization specializing in coaching and education for expecting and new moms around the mental health aspect of postpartum.

I'm a mother, a wife, a podcast host, an author, a PSI board member, an advocate for maternal mental health, and most importantly, a perinatal mental health specialist and two-time survivor of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.

I found myself on the opposite side of care in 2018 after the birth of my first child, and then again in 2020, realizing not much had changed. I suffered silently with perinatal anxiety and postpartum depression, and after getting well, I opened my organization and began building programs to support the gaps in care I experienced during pregnancy and postpartum.

Everything I create is done through the lens of extensive training, coupled with lived experience, and a genuine understanding of what it feels like trying to push through the challenges of postpartum without proper education or a plan.

Working with and communicating with hundreds of mothers, one point ALWAYS remains the same; We all wish we had known MORE, and better prepared. So, that is what I am giving to you with this course.
