I am a behavioral health professional highly trained in perinatal mental health.  I developed perinatal transitional coaching to fill the gap in services given to expecting and new moms during pregnancy and postpartum.  Through personal experience with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, I recognized how unprepared moms are as they head into their most important role in life and I wanted to change that.

I coach moms through the difficult season of postpartum in an effort to provide support and resources related to their mental health and everyday challenges associated with motherhood.  I empower moms to take the challenges they are facing, learn to re-purpose them, and leverage them to become who they desire to be.

Perinatal-Transitional Coaching

The perinatal timeframe is something we know about without full understanding.  It is during this time that everything begins to change for moms, and little information and education is offered on how to best approach these changes.  Mothers are navigating new territory, whether this is their first or fourth pregnancy and they need more support than can be offered in 15-minute OB appointments or 1 follow-up appointment postpartum.

The less informed moms are about what to truly expect, and how to pull themselves out of the chaos and overwhelm, the more at risk they are for developing a perinatal mood or anxiety disorder that could significantly impact their transition into motherhood.

When moms begin to experience challenges or adversity in motherhood without proper understanding, this can lead to self-shame, stigma, and isolation.  All of which can impact their mental health and confidence as a new mom.  Imagine having a blueprint created for you, knowing what you could expect along the way, and having a tour guide readily available to answer the questions you don't want to ask anyone else.

That is what my coaching program offers and I do it through a variety of approaches that meet each mom where she is in her journey.  Coaching focuses on forward progress and expectations, much different than therapy, and oftentimes is utilized alongside therapeutic interventions.  Coaching is a partnership where we work together on constructing a plan that alleviates your anxieties and puts you in the best position possible to be successful in this new role, as a new version of yourself.

What to Expect

Getting Started

Reaching out and asking for help is the most difficult part of this process.  It is not easy to admit that you are struggling and things are not going as according to plan.  Some people see that as a weakness.  I see that as strength.  Strong is the mother who is experiencing challenges and decides not to accept the hand she is dealt, but rather explore options that offer support and guidance on her new birth.  We will have a consultation where we talk about your current situation, and your goals/expectations, and then together we decide on the best intervention.

The Plan

Every mother, baby, and journey are unique and that means we take a lot into consideration when developing your plan of action.  We do a comprehensive review of your situation including a sleep assessment, daily routine, communication challenges and current employment.  The more information we consider the better prepared we are to identify where to start.  The beauty in coaching is that you don't have to figure that out.  That is what I am for.  Things can feel overwhelming during pregnancy and postpartum.  We are not going to add to your list.  After the review of this assessment we might decide to make a slight change to one area that will positively impact two others without any additional work.

Implementation

This is typically the easiest part of the coaching process.  Through our sessions and support series, you have gained the confidence necessary to execute the plan as well as a vivid picture of who and what is on the other side of this implementation.  All of the pieces to support your transition are in order allowing you to simply evolve into who you desire to be.  With the weekly coaching calls and daily Voxer support you never feel alone.  So, as we progress each week you have these check points of support to keep you encouraged and motivated to follow through.

The Outcome

The beautiful part of my coaching services is that you do not have to wait until the end to see the outcome.  You will see it during our sessions, at our monthly review, and even in our mini chats.  You will be reminded of who you once were with each passing month, and this is done through a series of reflective exercises highlighting your growth.  I want you to celebrate your growth at each passing stage so you stay encouraged on your journey.

Here are a few things you might feel and see along the way:

  • Confidence in decision-making

  • Trust in who you are

  • Empowered to set boundaries

  • Strong in body and mind

  • Effective communicator

  • RESTED, physically and mentally

  • Open-minded to new opportunities and situations

  • Reduced anxiety/isolation

  • Like you are evolving, stepping into your authentic self.

I started working with Nicole when I was 2 months postpartum and dealing with anxiety, heavy emotions, and feeling unstable all around.  I was having challenges with sleeping, communicating with my husband and finding my identity as a new mom and business owner.  Working with Nicole over the course of 3 months I began to feel more empowered and patient in this season of motherhood, leading to confidence that is shaping me into a better coach down the road.  I came to the realization that my mother wounds were showing up for me now as I became a mother and the need to work through those.  I am deeply appreciative of Nicole and how she helped me realize that I can be better through this.

After my second child, I was lost in postpartum. I had no idea what my purpose was, or WHO I was anymore. I believed these feeling I was dealing with were just “normal” and I should just suck it up. But after listening to a podcast Nicole was a guest on, reassured me that everything I was feeling was “normal” however I shouldn’t feel this way.  There was support and that I wasn’t alone. Working with Nicole she always listened intently to all of the challenges I was facing and always made me feel seen.

She was kind, knowledgeable, and always so helpful. The progress, especially mentally, I've made under her guidance has been truly transformative and unmatched. With all of her help I have been able to fully embrace what motherhood has to offer but also still learn how to find me again with my newfound confidence.

I started working with Nicole around 3-4 months postpartum. I was dealing with some pp anxiety, new mom stress, trying to work full time, and battling sleep deprivation. Nicole does such a good job of holding space, validating your experience, and creating a judgement-free container to discuss anything and everything you have going on. I always felt comfortable sharing absolutely anything with her. And, as a mom herself, she “gets it” in a way that only another parent can and that felt so integral to our work together as well; she could not only help from a professional sense, but could also help strategize ideas and action steps mom to mom, which I was so needing. Working with her helped me lower my anxiety, understand my needs more, feel less “crazy” and alone in my motherhood experience, and advocate for myself better. I’m SO thankful I worked with her, and highly recommend anyone on a pregnancy/postpartum journey do the same!!

I am 12 years postpartum and began working with Nicole to improve my self-esteem and learning to put myself first.  Over the course of 3 months I learned to be honest with myself and dig deeper into feelings and emotions that I had long suppressed.  It was what I never intended to talk about, that helped me the most. The conversation pivoted one day to something that happened over 25 years ago. She took the time to work through it with me and challenged me to go further and put my thoughts to paper. She validated what I went through, and I am so thankful for that moment. It changed me and my perspective to see things differently for my daughters. I was hesitant to invest in myself, but so happy that I did.  I recommend working with Nicole.

Redefine Motherhood

Mothers are the strongest set of people I know, who tend to lack the understanding and awareness of just how powerful they are.  I want to show you how to re-purpose the challenges, the fear, the sadness, the hurt, the resentment, etc. and use it to become the best version of yourself so you can excel as a person first, and then as a mother.  I want you to recognize that you gave birth to yourself during this time too, and you deserve to be cared for, supported, nurtured, and receive guidance.  Your baby has you to show them how to do it all.  Now, let me do that for you and watch who you become when you allow for the right help in your journey.
