Review: ReadyMade: How to Make {Almost} Everything

The plain, composition book-style cover may not tickle your eyes when browsing in the bookstore, but the insides more than make up for it. ReadyMade is a book from the editors of the magazine by the same name, and it's full of interesting, more-attractive-than-you'd-think projects and ideas for things to make out of stuff you'd otherwise throw away or recycle.

Review: Son of a Witch

As everyone who's anyone knows by now, Gregory Maguire is the author of Wicked, a book that retells the Wizard of Oz from the point of view of the Wicked Witch of the West, and which has since gone on to be transformed into a blockbuster broadway musical. And in the interests of full disclosure, Wicked is also one of my favourite books, and Elphaba quite possibly my favourite heroine of all time.

Son of a Witch is the sequel to Wicked. Elphaba's maybe-son is all grown up, almost dead, and desperately avoiding anything that reeks of personal responsibility.
